The full thesis has been published and is available at Millersville University.
This data includes the pretest, the mid-test, the end-test, and the post-test of a unit in Spanish at the beginning of the semester that lasted two weeks, and was taught to two TPRS groups and one control group of Spanish II high school students. It also includes data from the end of the semester final exam comparing one TPRS group and two control groups of the previous semester. The comparison of the final exam is the most powerful.

* In the TPRS group, 9 did not follow directions for the sentences section and only wrote the meaning of the words instead of writing complete sentences with the word provided. If we don’t count those 9 students, 16 (40%) failed, and 24 (60%) passed |
** The TPRS group used a variety of tenses, including the present, the preterit, and the imperfect, while the control group only used the present tense. |
***If spelling wouldn’t have been graded in the sentence section, most of the TPRS st would have passed and/or achieved a higher grade. Spelling is often not graded in le TPRS. |
**** For the total score, if we take into consideration the 9 who didn’t follow directions only 17 (35%) failed and 32 (65%) passed. |
